I guess, basically he's saying just hold SPX all you're life and you'll never lose.
Looking at the chart, that's correct.
I thought he meant hold stocks .... and we all know, not all stocks go up forever.

Basically, when there's a market bubble and the shorts come in, there's no support for declining prices.
THIS is exactly what happened to me in 2018 when I was just holding.
So frustrating! My stocks were NOT going up because the shorts had been in long before October 2018.

As you might know, Warrent Buffett will leave his wealth to his wife in the form
of 80%-90% as SPY shares and 10%-20% in cash.
Buffett also has an ongoing $1 million challenge to any money manager
who can consistently outperform his allocation of 80%-90% as SPY shares and 10%-20% in cash.
So far no manager was able to collect that $1 million donation to charities.
Many many years ago, Buffett and Fidelity Peter Lynch wrote that Buy and Hold
would be appropriate only if your health and financial circumstances
could tolerate a 55% drawdown over a sustained period.

TRO and a few other sF greats have picked out some of the best trading info and wisdom

At the time, there seemed to be more personal details about Marlyn,
But now that personal info might have been archived away or deleted because
it's too old and gets little interest from readers.
I've heard some inspiring personal details about Marlyn from my co-workers a long long time ago.
I have no way of knowing if any of it is true or not.
Apparently, Marlyn was a Vietnam vet ex-Marine who returned home after the war to an ungrateful
nation and a government that abandoned him. So, he earned a living as a long haul truck driver,
taught himself trading, and retired after accumulating $2.5 million.
In the early years, there was no internet, no cell phone, so Marlyn only used ema(4), ema(8)
and ema(21). His motto was: simple systems, good profits.
Anyway, hope you've enjoyed little story and benefit from TRO's and other sF posts on Marlyn

Yes, I've got an idea.
He abandoned his blog, just like peeps disappear from SF.
GAMBLING is not a cool way to make a living unless you're really good at it --
and most people are not.

BTW, I briefly glanced at one of his filters.
It's a hybrid GUPPY filter.
