Don't get too caught up in being right. It only hurts when your wrong. :)
You can pick a point and buy/sell and wait and hope you make money. This is more like investing. Traders take a position, make/lose their money and move onto the next trade. You only make money if you exit the position.

I play lots of paired trades but also have directional trades ... I am very overweighted short at this time and must admit it looks like I went short a little too early this time around ...

Fact,86% of the time,if the first 5 days in January are positive,the rest of the month will end positive.Fact,91% of the time that January ends positive,the rest of the year will end the same way.Those are tough odds to buck.I'm also waiting to go short,but won't do so until I see some kind of market reversal.The market is way overbought,but it's just a guessing game as to when the trend will end.If you think you're smarter than the market,it will give you an education.....

Its not a guess it is a point to control risk with the most to gain.... being overbought is just a plus...
