Heads up - ^VIX is in backwardation (has been for the past 2 days). Not sure how long it will last but it typically reverts pretty quickly. May want to be short-biased on any equities for the next few days.

Kevin what are your thoughts on the cotango levels for TVIX right now? The F4-F7 cotango levels are very high considering the growing backwardation for the F1-F2 futures.

Contango for the ^VIX is at -3.84% as of 2:45 PM today (in backwardation). F7/F4 contango (for ^VXV) is at +9.44%.
TVIX should do well under these conditions, but backwardation is usually quite short-lived. I just took a short position in TVIX anticipating a reversion to the mean, but it is a small position that I can add to in case this period of backwardation is more prolonged.
For the F7/F4 contango you would probably short VXZ.
