I bought 1200 shares of JDST yesterday as well as shorted some gold miners ... I typically play back to a cross of the MA(5) ... exit end of day ... its up around 7% now and still 18% away from the MA(5) although that number will drop in the next few hours and days.
I shorted TAHO and ABX yesterday on the close ... did particularly well closing TAHO on the open for a 10% gain.
I have DUST up 6% and another 11% away from the MA(5) for a reversion to the mean trade ... of course, the better trade was to put it on yesterday when it was oversold to the extreme.

Daily trend for gold is down(for real) with lots of overhead resis. DUST will pop for sure. I don't have a sell on gold as yet.

BarTune, great trade. I got in JDST this morning thankfully. Is there a way you can demonstrate visually what you are looking at with the MA(5)? Your entry and exit? It seemed to improve your judgement on exiting gold.

I am primarily a reversion to the mean trader. Cross of the MA(5) is my standard exit, end of day. So I add it as a column and draw it on all my charts. It is a Larry Connors preferred exit. You are supposed to wait to the end of the day and quite often the cross of the MA(5) is such that you can often achieve a much greater price ... so you are not held to the MA(5) ... but rather where the stock closes at the end of the day. This exit has been very good to me over the years and I never wonder when to exit.
After all that has been said ... I do deviate from the rule when there are significant profits. And in fact I just exited the JDST position because I was looking at a gift with the $2 pop from $21.60 to $23.70 ... I got into 400 of the shares near the end of the day yesterday at $19.50 and with this thing just going to 23.70 i took the profits and ran at about $23.40 ....
Also covered my ABX at $16.75 -- appear the gods have been good to me today ...
@pthomas - my entries, mainly filters built on Connors systems, often tweaked by Kevin, many of which are posted on the forum, looking for extremely oversold / overbought conditions, on significant intra-day or end of day pullbacks ....

It would be great to see a couple of examples of how you enter and exit visually...
Open up free account at tradingview...
Draw on chart, add text etc.
Hit camera icon on bottom to take photo to get link.
Post link here...
Thanks!!!!
