Cool. Good to know. Thank you.

One more question - how do you handle large lists like today? You enter them all with Buy-Stops before the market opens?!

Kevin - thank you for sharing this with us. It is appreciated.

Question: I noticed today that some stocks that I saw on the list last week (Wednesday / after Market closed) are again on the list = 2 days in a row. Apparently the stocks closed lower, but are still meeting the filter requirements for this system.

Is there anything special to look out for when this happens?

guspenskiy13 - thanks for posting this. I just loaded into the TOS and replaced the SPX/VIX combo with "RUSS/RSX". In hindsight it looks really conclusive. Will test it over the next few trading days with real time data.

Update: Just used onDemand in TOS and it is really interesting to follow it in "real-time" trading.

Kevin - thank you so much. The first code you posted does the trick. Again, thank you so much - not just for your help here, but in general. I learned so much from your postings here and several of your filters are so helpful. It is really appreciated!!! I hope I can give back the same way one day or buy you beer or so.

I am using the inside days trading strategy, but seem to be missing out some really solid trades because the list per day can be quite long. I had success when finding double inside days (2 Consecutive Inside Days/Shark), but those do not happen too often and it is sad to see those trades in hindsight.

I am using alf's Range Contraction Expansion filter, but are getting too much data. He has this implemented into his query. However, when I try to isolate it my queries do not work. Then I tried a single inside day scan, but I guess my coding skills would never put food on the plate for my family.

Any help to get a query written for a double inside day would be really appreciated. Here is the single inside day query. How would I be able to scan for two inside days in a row?

/* inside day low/high*/

set{xtop1, max( high 1 day ago, low 1 day ago) }
set{xbottom1, min( high 1 day ago, low 1 day ago) }

set{xtop, max( high , low ) }
set{xbottom, min( high , low ) }

xtop < xtop1
xbottom > xbottom1

high above 20

Hi Dustin,

I did do a few trades (real + paper) based on this and came to the same conclusion that it provides good setups for trading. Would love to hear more how you trade these. I only trade those that open positive and disregard the ones that open negative (just to mention one additional thing I am looking at).

Thank you. Kind of going into the right direction. I added this to have the close above the T-Line:

Close above ema(8)

A few false positives in there. As an example VXX closed above the 8EMA and above the 34EMA while 34EMA is below the 8EMA. So, I added this:

Close below ema(34)

Seems like this is close to what I was looking for. I really appreciate your help. Thank you.

I am looking for a certain scan where I can find stocks that show a certain chart pattern. To be specific the stock should be in a down trend and preferably I would want a certain difference between the T-Line (8EMA) and the 34EMA. I found this code, but do not know how to add the difference requirement to the mix. I am looking for stocks where 8EMA is at least 10% or more below the 34EMA.

EMA(8) below EMA(21)
EMA(21) below EMA(34)
EMA(34) below MA(50)
MA(50) below MA(200)
close 1 day ago is above the 8 EMA
high reached a new 1 day high
high reached a new 2 day high
