I would demo at IBFX, Their platform is ultra simple and solid and you demo their software free.

I know a few people who trade for their livelihood using this system.

The shorting; selling first , closing or buying back later etc. is crystal clear.

When you can turn your demo account from $25,000 to $50,000 twice, you're ready for the big show...

General Discussion · How to? program the Wishing Wealth main Market Timing Signal

For the last 5 years I have been reading http://wishingwealthblog.com/ for general market timing (It's Free).
I think it's sensible and nimble.

See his article http://wishingwealthblog.com/2005/04/the-wishing-wealth-general-market-index/

One of the keys of his approach is are the strongest stocks getting stronger or weaker?

He uses a filter to ask which stocks > $1 which hit a 52 week high 10 days ago and whether those same stocks are higher 10 days later.

He requires a number of 100 new highs and successfully higher 10 days later to be a successful signal.

Is there a way to get a "count" of how many stocks hit a new high 10 days ago and now carry a higher price?

Thanks!

Why do the ROI on the backtest and the ending equity summary not line up?

I can have an approach that has a roi of 20% and turns $100,000 into $106,000 and another with an roi of 12% that turns $100,000 into $140,000 ?

Is the ending value of the 2 year test in the equity summary the best way to compare the filters?

thx
