Seems like maybe a time is coming when we see familiar names at 2009 "end of world levels."
Or, is worldwide recesssion/deflation worse? I have no idea...but maybe as this thing unravels
people could mention valid businesses that can be had for a few bucks.....
AKS (steel) is .30 cents above its 2009 low...about 5 bucks

|General Discussion · AAPL Consensus|

If your a trader that buys trending stocks on weakness your not even
looking at AAPL for entry here. AAPL can go to the moon but oh well.... wait.
Im waiting for weakness to sell some and will give back some too see.
If you a breakout trader then wait till it breaks out. It may move or fail ...... who knows.
If what your really trying to do is figure out before hand which direction it will go then
look to the fortune tellers on some other threads.
I like your contrary thinking Mike..... but if I go where you suggest ie: designing system2 based
on failiures of system1 (a very old concept) it aint good.....
Much better to keep it very simple for me and buy AAPL's on pullbacks in a bull market.
It is STILL a bull market. long and stong(Alf44) months ago is still right untill proven otherwise.
AAPL has bailed me out of trading mistakes because it has simply been on the right
side of big money... Ive learned that I am not as good or bad at trading as I think. Knowing
that I just try to go with the big money. GS has me thinking along those line right now.
But.... all this chicken soup talk does not gaurentee for a second that I or anyone will make
money because as we alll know..... it aint that easy Good luck.
|General Discussion · Accuracy of dailly price % change|
|12/15/2013 9:47:18 PM
After having written an Excel spread sheet to organize stocks into my industry groups, well, I
need to pick a data source.
I am thinking of using Stockfetchers " daily percent change" column.
I just wonder how frequently I will have errors that i must fix. I am not that concerned
about minor .1% or so inaccuracies but more along the lines of .5% or higher.
i will be saving about 900 data points a day.
Has anyone had experience with say Yahoo historical data vs. Stockfetchers?
Any comments appreciated.

I think the long 2x and 3x etfs are a very good thing for a lot of people
Different strokes.. different.... folks. I see them as longer lasting swing trades than
many stocks.....similar to appls and bidu but with better oomph!
I dont watch nickels/dimes but by looking at the charts of the LONGS ...
I dont see a problem with price closely matching the underlying.
Although I did not take it..... TNA came up as a buy candidate "offset 15"
and is up 18% where SPY is up 1 or 2 %
No company risk with oooph!
If you are the type that adds to / builds positions then your account is larger
....leveraged to do so.
Keven, I doubt you a picked a long term top in gold.
ps: I wouldnt own a junior miner if you paid me.
Gold, and dollar down will probably be bought soon.
People.... expect Kevins overhead resistance to check any rally in gold
and provide a shorting opportunity.

Excuse the intrusion.... but, ....wondering if you could "fix" this filter. It is sometimes 1 day too late.
Tried "3 day slope of rate of change < 5 day slope of rate of change 3 days ago"
but still dont like it. Any help would be appreciated .

I would like to have AGU "hit" on offset 54.
on offset 54 the rate of change has not yet changed direction.
If it were the SINE function I would want to catch it at exactly 90 degrees when rate of change is zero.
|General Discussion · Any FAS/FAZ traders here?|

One question please.......

Most disagree on this matter.
