General Discussion · Questions about "is approaching"

I found the same problem with is approaching so what I used to do was find stocks in the gap between 40MA and 50MA which gave me more time to watch the stock and plan.
i.e. close is below MA(40) and above MA(50)

Do you have any techniques or suggestions that will help distinguish between a minor pull back and an actual trend reversal?
I think if you take the definition of an uptrend as "higher highs, higher lows", then a pullback would be a higher low but a trend reversal might be a lower high or lower low.

When I first joined SF these kinds of posts about "making millions" looked like spam or a scam to me. I think it gives a bad impression for new people who join or at the very least is distracting.

apply symlist(ADVS)
and draw price line at close

See this example above which draws a horizontal line at the last close value. Is it possible to get this value into a variable so that the count() function can be used with it?
At the moment when I use close in the count() function it uses each days' close rather than the last close value.
There is a function in Metastock called lastvalue() which I think does what I want.

Anyone familiar with programming langauges, C, Java etc. will know about for(), while() loops.
Is there a way to do this in SF?

I can do it manually by copy-pasting in the code for each iteration but it would be easier to just have this once in the program and run it each time in the loop.
The filter should return all results for each iteration of the loop.
