General Discussion · Suggestion for Stockfetcher
drand11 msg #152051 |
5/4/2020 3:19:24 PM Would be very useful to add a few features to the performance calculator: - Add a % stop-loss so that the user can see the Net Gains/losses with a stop-loss: (10) gains x 3.5% = 35% (5) Losses x 2% = 10% (There were much more losses, but these hit stop loss 2%) Net Gains = 25% My scanner is looking for buys. So if I spread out all my money on all the stocks (for example), and limit my losses, This shows user a much better Net gain/losses for the Script. Stop loss would apply of course too the winner also..so it may result in decreasing the overall gains also. |

6/1/2019 2:51:23 AM You can get a relatively cheap membership at Trading View, and use their backtester for testing strategies. You can go onto Upwork.com; pay a guy just $20-$40 to build you a custom strategy, and then backtest it on the stocks you find on Stockfetcher. It works quite well for me. then the same programmer can convert the strategy into an EA if you find that it works well for you. We are all in search of the same thing, that "Perfect Strategy". The perfect Strategy requires a good filter to find the correct stocks to trade with that given strategy. |

6/1/2019 2:48:59 AM Stockfetcher only address the 1D chart, not smaller 5M, 15M, 1H charts. So it certainly can show you the overall direction of a stock very well, but only at the 1D level. I use Stockfetcher to fist fine stocks moving in a given direction, and then to may go trade that stock ONLY int he direction of the 1 Day chart. It allows me to take a larger Stop loss and play out the trade to profit. Gives me more confidence that long term, My present losing trade will make me $$$ . Works well. |
General Discussion · How to find the Most Trending/Momentum Stocks over the last 60D
drand11 msg #147988 |
5/31/2019 3:21:33 PM Which measurement is the best way to measure for trending stocks over the last 45 days? Highest Ranging Stocks. I believe most strategies work If you are trading a high ranging/trending stock. So what is the best approach to finding these stocks? I would remove any stocks that are big big gappers. I personally don't like trading gappers, especially since they are usually dropping and the are not shortable. Its not Avg Range? I don't think its "Momentum" or is it? suggestions? |

General Discussion · Understanding the Performance Test
drand11 msg #147981 modified |
5/31/2019 7:31:14 AM I just want to make sure I am understanding the performance test properly. I build filters to find me good 2-3 day Swing trades. I trade stocks with daily range over 2.5%. I typically set Stoploss at 1% - 2% but honesly, I wait to enter to limit my downside on given trade. IF I had stoploss of 1.5%; I would have: Using 1 Day trade: For Next..Overall Adv # Adv % Dec # Dec % 1 days 5.26% 30 12.34% 27 -2.41% 2 days 3.14% 21 17.07% 35 -5.04% 3 days 3.97% 24 17.66% 34 -5.69% 4 days 2.92% 25 16.34% 33 -7.24% - 30 trades with 12.34% gains. (30 x 12%= 360% gains) - 27 trades with loss avg of 1.5% due to my Stoploss. (27 trades x 1.5% Loss due to stoploss - 41% Loss) So statistically, My Filter is good. I have 360/41= 8.8x Win ration on this filer (Theoretically) Is this correct interpretation of the report? Below is the Filter: Show stocks where shares outstanding is below 20% and close is between 2 and 50 Average Day Range(5) Above 2.5% volume is above 100000 Close above EMA(18) Close above EMA(9) Sort Column 5 descending add column RSI(2) add column RSI(14) add column Momentum(12) Momentum(12) above Momentum(12) 2 day ago RSI(14) above RSI(14) 1 day ago MACD Histogram(12,26,9) above MACD Histogram(12,26,9) 1 day ago draw MACD Histogram(12,26,9) draw RSI(2) draw RSI(14) draw Momentum(12) |
General Discussion · How to order "My Filter List"
drand11 msg #147926 |
5/26/2019 3:27:44 AM I organize "My Filter" screen by moving things around etc... then click "SAVE"..but it never works. What am I doing wrong? I also go in, and rename each filter so that I add a 01; 02; 03 etc..in front trying to sort by ascending to force things into order and that doesn't work either. Suggestions? |
Filter Exchange · 2 standard deviation pull back on prior 10 bars
drand11 msg #146924 |
3/14/2019 1:28:34 PM I want to figure a good way to program my stop loss and trailing stops based on prior price activity. I am thinking I can look at prior 10 day bars. A Way to calculate what the 2 Standard Deviation typical pull back is for a stock. Lets assume I want to do a Buy trade. EMA 9 is above EMA 50 so I am only lookign for buys. So I want to calculate the 2ST pull back for the past 10 trading days. and I can use this value as my Trailing stop. Thoughts? or 1.5 SD etc.. Could make this a variable, and than input it into an indicator to find the best results for a given stock. |

drand11 msg #144076 |
7/11/2018 11:25:09 AM I would love to scan all the currencies for multiple timeframes... It would be magic! I can't understand why Stockfetcher doesn't do it. There is a much larger population out there for forex. |
