I was wondering if I could get some help with a scan for one month holding period. Something really easy to trade that doesn't require being fully tied to the market nonstop. A friend of mines wife just got cancer and they are trying to fight it but its taking alot of time. He is needing to invest his nest egg but he has been trying wisetrade day trading and loosing his shirt.

So I would appreciate any help I can get. I was thinking 1 month holding period to make the market bumps less.

I wanted to see if I could get some help converting (from tradestation) Dr. Elders impulse system over to StockFetcher code. I figure it might be of use to some people here. So calling all tradestation experts.

[LegacyColorValue = true];

Value1 = MACD(Close,FastMA,SlowMA);
Value2 = XAverage(Value1, Signal);
value3 = value1-value2;

SetPlotWidth(1, DivPlotWidth);
if Displace >= 0 or CurrentBar > AbsValue( Displace ) then
mavg = XAverage(price,malength);

if mavg > mavg[1] and value3 > value3[1] then
plotpaintbar[displace] (high,low,"impulse");
else if mavg < mavg[1] and value3 < value3[1] then
PlotPaintBar[displace]( High, Low, "impulse" ) ;
else begin
PlotPaintBar[displace]( High, Low, "impulse" ) ;
end ;

I am wanting to get some help. I am wanting to find a strategy that I can trade with a limited amount of time. I was looking at Zacks Research Wizard and using one of their Fundamental strategies with a buy and hold, rebalancing each month. Their results are pretty impressive, out preforming the market by about 3 times each year. Also seem to work well in up and down markets.

I would like to get some help developing a StockFetcher strategy for the markets to help know when to get out of the market and sit on the sidelines and when to "play ball" (thanks TRO, got it stuck in my head). Anyways thanks for the help and let me know if this makes sense to you guys.

Sure thing. My original thinking was to use some solid fundamentals and then use TA to stand on the sidelines while the market is not very good. Just gotta focus on the second 1/2

Thanks. I was reading this book called Entries & Exits and they use what's called an impulse system:

Slope of EMA & MACD Histogram are UP go LONG (no shorting)
Slope of EMA & MACD Histogram are DOWN go SHORT (no long)
Slope of EMA is UP & MACD Histogram are DOWN go LONG or SHORT
Slope of EMA is DOWN & MACD Histogram are UP go LONG or SHORT

This may or may not be very good, i'm not sure. I have not got it programed yet, still got my coding training wheels on.

Here is a script I have been working no a little. Could be the start of a good swing trade script. Let me know if you have any ideas to improve performance.

Average Volume(20) above 500000
and Close above 12
and MA(10) above Close
and MA(20) above Close
and Force Index(3) below 0
and Force Index(13) above 0
and ADX(20) above 30
and +di(20) is greater than -di(20)
and MA(10) above MA(20)
and Close decreasing for the last 2 Days

The system I was working with was 4% stop loss and 7% profit stop. Maximum 14 day trade because you don't want to be in a stock that long if you are swing trading. And the only exit trigger I have is:

MA(10) crossed below MA(20)
