Too bad I was too chicken to buy it.
FEAR sux.
============================

If we apply some of the ideas from Mac, karennma, TRo and riggs to AMZN,
then we may get a chart like this

Fetcher[
symlist(AMZN)
CHART-LENGTH 3 MONTHS

draw bottom linear regression line(60)
draw bottom linear regression line(34)

Set{cntcmadma1abovecmadma7,count( cma(DMA(7,-5),1) > cma(DMA(7,-5),7) ,1)}
draw cntcmadma1abovecmadma7
Set{cntcmadma1abovecmadma7b,count( cma(DMA(7,-5),1)< cma(DMA(7,-5),7) ,1)}
draw cntcmadma1abovecmadma7b

Set{cntcmadma7abovecmadma7,count( cma(DMA(7,-5),7) > cma(DMA(7,-5),7) 1day ago,1)}
draw cntcmadma7abovecmadma7
Set{cntcmadma7abovecmadma7b,count( cma(DMA(7,-5),7)< cma(DMA(7,-5),7) 1day ago,1)}
draw cntcmadma7abovecmadma7b

If we apply a couple of sandjco's indicators to AMZN, then we may get a chart like this

draw center linear regression line(89)
draw center linear regression line(34)

Fear is a strong emotion. We all have fears. But your fear today is different from your fear
from a few days ago. Your fear today seems to be FOMO fear of missing out.
If the real reason you froze was the size of risk.
Someone in this forum once gave this advice: if we are afraid of buying 10 shares,
would we buy just 1?

TRO and riggs had some good posts In the early years on buying bottoms.

The cmadma7 filter from you and Mac can also help you decide on AMZN.

TheStockWhisperer has this trading advice: When in doubt, stay out.

This is a long-ass crash.
I'm f*d.
==================================

I feel for you. Often, the best thing to do in time of personal crisis is to stay calm.
I hope you can find some comfort with more balanced views from these pages:

can spy continue up while its heaviest weight (tech 26% of spy) is down?
consider that xlf is 15% of spy, and xlv is 13%
xlf and xlv combined = 28% of spy
so…. tech down and banks/health up …. net zero-ish impact
(so now... banks and health are more important than ever)

Fodder for the bulls; long term, weekly:
When the one week rate-of-change (ROC-1) on the Value Line Geometric, XVG, hits above +4% it suggests a very strong bull, with a strong market expected ahead.

@ compound_gains
Riggs and genial?? Isn't that an oxymoron? But you're right...those are some great "filter builder" names from the past.
==================================================

My honest answer is yes.

Sorry I did not explicitly mention you in the list. My bad. I am sure I have learned something from many
people over the years. My post was more of an expression of gratitude to the legacy of many past subscribers.

Cheese,
What filter are you referring to?
Rich
==============================================================

Rich,

I am guessing that karennma was referring to this great filter by Mac, with karen's inputs.
StockFetcher Forums · Filter Exchange · /* Markets go to Hell in a Handbasket Symlist */
StockFetcher Forums · Public Filter List · Mac's Trend Reversal Filter by Mactheriverrat

karen and Mac have now put that filter here for everyone's learning convenience
https://www.stockfetcher.com/forums/Public-Filters/Mac-s-Trend-Reversal-Filter/145094

Also, please refer to other DMA works by davesaint86 and four, as well as user discussions
for a complete picture.

It is important to read and understand DMA explanations from Stockfetcher staff .

https://www.stockfetcher.com/sf/search.php?q=DMA&filter=&sort=
https://www.stockfetcher.com/help/Negative-Offset-Displaced-Moving-Average/100315

Mac, four, and Stockfetcher staff are very good at explaining things. It is amazing how
patient and kind-hearted they can be.

Thanks, Mac and karennma.
The cmadma stuff by both of you, davesaint86, and four are fantastic.
But I still miss many genial people from earlier years, people like niko, chetron, yepher, TRO, Kevin,
riggs, alf44, m4m, etc too many to list here.

@ sammyn

Good post.

Your search reminded me of the early years when people looked for the holy grail.
First, a few people referred to their filters as " the holy grail "
they even referred to themselves as " the holy grail."
Then someone said "there is no holy grail".
Finally, a wise person said "The holy grail is inside our self. Most people look outside.
That's why they've never found it."

Best.
