"Need filter that finds round bottoms"
Yeah...don't we all !
I could think of a few other body parts too...but, I digress !

Hi yepher, what would be the filter like, to show stock where the "cup & handle" reached the same point (height) as the previous high point, i.e. before the stock slides down? e.g. MESA on the 12th Sept and NEOF on 13th Sept?
Thank you,
Cking

I've checked out a few stocks from this filter & it seems to do the trick

Thanks nikoschopen, however, what would the filter looks like "before" the handle i.e. before the prices fall after it has reached the high edge of the cup. Reason: to buy puts. Thanks again.

Excuse my ignorance, but it seems to me that what you want is to find a stock that fails to break out -- the goal being that you want to jump on the bandwagon before the damn thing falls into swoon (again!). Well, the challenge posed by this wishful thinking is that oftentimes the damn thing doesn't relapse into coma as we would like, but comes to life in full force and takes out all the shorts in vengence. And where will that leave you? My question is how will you know the stock WILL retrace at the breaking point unless you're some seer on steroid? I much rather use the above filter to find stocks in retreat then start butchering them to pieces knowing that they're in fact in retreat. Hope that will reverse your "short" mentality.
